JOAQUIM
SEQUEIRA:
Joaquim Sequeira is one of the key factors in the success
of the visits to the Algarve. He started his golfing
career caddying at Dom Pedro Golf Club at the age of
14. He progressed to working in the shop at Dom Pedro
for Tony Barnabe, a Portuguese Golf Professional.
In 1979 I brought him to England for
six months and trained him at Dale Hill Golf Club in
all aspects of the game from teaching to club repairs
- as well as improving his English. He proved to be
very popular with all the members, particularly for
his cheery personality. He qualified as a Professional
in Portugal in 1981, and in 1988 became the Resident
Golf Professional at Vilamoura Marinotel. Two or three
years later he was appointed full Club Professional
at the prestigious Old Course. This, being one of the
number one positions in Professional Golf in the Algarve,
was just reward and recognition for his outstanding
hard work and dedication to the game of golf, teaching
the game of golf and offering his valuable help at all
times.
Any spare time he has is spent with
his other sporting love - fishing. Anyone who knows
Joaquim will tell you that he is a very likeable, fun-loving
man who is always ready to help master this fascinating
game of golf.
