I hope those of you who visited the Algarve in 2007/08, had a fantastic time, and that everything you were expecting of your golfing holiday came up to “scratch” or better.

We had a very good season, more and more new clients, the usual Pro-ams after the new year, plus one extra. A great group of golfers, staying at The Dona Filipa playing the Pro-am at San Lorenzo, fantastic, but the Icing on the cake for this Pro-am was there day-off/ Challenge Day at The New, Superb, Monte Rei. Their first event was a huge success. We also picked up one or two more corporate events, which is obviously good for business as well as very rewarding to look after.

Now for the NEW SEASON! It’s GONE, there no longer is the traditional October-March golfing break in The Algarve, it is beyond all doubt an all year round resort for golfing holidays, May has to be booked a year in advance, and that is creeping into June as well.

Every where is expanding fast, New owners of the Vilamoura course, they also are opening two new courses near Silves, so seven courses in that region as well as four or five others they own on Portuguese soil.

They are the Property development company “Oceanico” and we all wish them every success. Quinta Do Lago, everyones favorite, already two well known course are opening their third course later this year, so will now be: SOUTH, NORTH and EAST, I’m looking forward to that. New hotels are opening up, and the Tivoli MARINOTEL has undergone image changing renovations well worth a look! The two Dom Pedros, have made a well deserved comeback and now a very popular place to stay, very good value for money. Now, Eastern Algarve, near Tavira. Already with it’s two very popular courses, Quint De Ria and Quinta De Cima, plus Benamor.

They now have, and I mentioned it earlier the STUNNING Monte Rei, designed by Jack Nicklaus, and the new course, making Monte Rei two courses is also underway. Between the two courses they are building a very comprehensive complex, 5 Star hotel, apartments, shops, bars, restaurants and a lot more. Also staying with the same region there is also a new 5 Star hotel opening at the Quinta De Ria/Cima complex this June, plus of course the magnificent new course by the River, designed by the man himself, SEVE! I think you are guessing what I am getting at, just contact us for further details, it is now a very interesting place to visit or stay.

MY OUTLOOK: Be careful Snr. Algarve,……Remember 2001/2, When the top courses were ringing all the hotels, and desperately asking for clients.
